Joe Biden’s Credibility Issue

“Since the early 1970s, Joe Biden has been a serial liar when it comes to his ‘work’ in the civil rights movement. It’s the equivalent of stolen valor and is fundamentally disqualifying.” –Civil rights activist Shawn King.

The myth that Joe Biden is a decent, honest man is just that, a myth. That is not to say that Biden is evil, he is just not a good person. Biden is in fact a serial liar.

Biden is exactly what most people detest about our political system in America. Biden’s 47 years in politics is littered with failed policies, abrasive behavior and countless lies. And it’s not just Republicans or those on the political right who have expressed grave concerns about Biden.

In your favorite search engine, type “ Biden’s Lies” or “Biden’s Failed/Bad Policies,” and you will be presented with thousands of articles written by people representing every political spectrum. These articles paint a picture of a political creature who has done and said things for his own self gain.

Biden’s lies are infamous:

Many have pointed out the only civil rights record Biden claims he has are either lies or supporting policies that were anti-civil rights. King found “at least 31 times” Biden lied about his civil rights record.

On numerous occasions, Biden claimed he was involved in the desegregation movement, was an activist and/or organizer within the civil rights movement, that he had been trained as a civil rights activist in Black churches, that he had participated in civil rights sit-ins, boycotts and marches, and even went so far as to claim he was “raised in a Black church.” None of it was true, not even a little bit. It was all a complete fabrication.

Biden was so brazen that on several occasions he claimed he was in Selma and Birmingham during the great civil rights movements. He repeated these falsehoods numerous times, some even after he was caught in the lies. A decent man does not do this, a deceitful man does.

Not satisfied with stealing the glory from those who actually sacrificed during the civil rights movement, in February 2020, while campaigning in South Carolina, Biden said, “I had the great honor of being arrested with our U.N. ambassador on the streets of Soweto trying to get to see (Nelson Mandela) on Robbens Island” (according to Politifact). This was the third time he repeated the lie.

After spending years lying about being involved in the civil rights movement, I wonder if Biden felt any shame at all when he offered praise for real civil rights hero John Lewis upon his death. A decent man would feel humiliated for stealing the valor of others, but not a fraudulent man.

Biden has also lied about his record on crime. Biden has often repeated he “opposed that ‘three strikes and you’re out’ bill. I oppose the position taking that, saying that you’re going to have any mandatory sentences.” What bill was he referring to? The notorious 1994 Crime Bill he championed (a bill he actually referred to as the ‘Biden Bill’). Another lie.

Not only did the bill have the “three strikes and you’re out” provision, it also had mandatory life imprisonment mandates. This one piece of legislation did more to solidify the “classroom to prison cell” criminal justice system some believe America has become more than any other piece of legislation.

“Biden’s Bill” was so destructive that equal justice activists such as Desmond Meade called it “the mother ship for mass incarnation,” and Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., stated that Biden and the Biden Bill was “an architect of mass incarceration.”

With the help of his friend, Democratic Southern segregationist Sen. James O. Eastland of Mississippi, and Biden’s rallying cry “Lock the S.O.B.s Up,” the era of mass incarceration began in the 1980s under Biden’s leadership and the coup de grâce was his 1994 bill. I can understand why Biden would want to lie about his involvement.

But there is one Biden lie above all others that is not only repugnant, but vile to its very core. The circumstances surrounding the death of his wife and daughter in 1972. On at least three occasions, Biden claimed Curtis C. Dunn, the driver of the tractor-trailer that struck the car driven by Biden’s wife, was drunk at the time of the accident.

Biden stated in 2001 that “An errant driver who stopped to drink instead of drive and hit – a tractor-trailer – hit my children and my wife and killed them.” A lie repeated by Huffington Post when it printed “Delaware’s Senator-elect would face a more difficult challenge soon after his election, when a drunk driver struck the car carrying his family, killing his wife Neilia and daughter Naomi.”

The truth is Biden’s wife failed to yield the right of way, Dunn put his life in jeopardy when trying to avoid hitting the Biden vehicle, and after the accident tried to render aid to the Biden family. Delaware Superior Court Judge Jerome O. Herlihy, who oversaw the police investigation as chief prosecutor, said there was absolutely no evidence whatsoever supporting Biden’s “claim.” Curtis Dunn was in fact cleared of any wrongdoing.

Biden’s mis-telling of the death of his wife and his young daughter not only destroyed the character of a good man, Curtis Dunn, it dishonored the lives of those lost in the accident. It made for a heartbreaking story on the campaign trail and may have won him some sympathy votes. But once the truth was revealed, so was the true character of “Lunchbox” Joe. Hardly a decent man.

For those who would dismiss my criticism, or for those who say to themselves “yah, but Trump is a bigger liar,” you are not only fooling yourself, but missing the bigger picture. The fact many of you are hearing about these lies for the first time is a startling indictment of not only Biden but our press.

When you enter that voting booth, do not think you are voting for a decent man, when in fact you are voting for a dishonest, self-serving career politician.
