Trump versus Clinton: Democrat Hypocrisy

I wonder if many politically active Democrats can even see the absolute hypocrisy in their attacks on Donald Trump. In trying to convince Republicans to renounce their nominee, they either make ridiculous excuses, or remain silent regarding their own flawed candidate, Hillary Clinton. To actually believe that you can shame a Trump supporter into surrendering their candidate while holding up Hillary Clinton as the alternative is the height of idiocy.

Now, there is enough hypocrisy hockey being played by both sides of the political spectrum, and I am in no way ignoring the duplicity on the part of some Trump fans. Yet, to sit there with a smiling face and rattle off a litany of Donald Trump’s issues, all while standing in front of Hillary Clinton, is wretchedly hilarious. So long as either candidate is the nominee of their respective party, believe me when I tell you that any discussion of contrast is merely an exercise in futility. The debate will quickly disintegrate into rattling off a list of negative attributes that are associated with either candidate. In fact, I highly anticipate I will receive comments and emails doing just that, listing Trump’s issues, while whistling past, down playing, or trying to reposition Clinton’s character weaknesses.

In trying to sell Clinton as the better choice, you have ignore an awful lot, inflate Clinton’s resume, or somehow try and rationalize her numerous failings. There is a reason why 68 percent of those most recently polled say that Clinton isn’t honest or trustworthy (CNN). Finally, Clinton can call herself a “Progressive,” because her honesty and trustworthiness numbers have gotten progressively worse over the past 4 months, from 59 percent, to 65 percent, to her current all-time high of 69 percent. Why should the American people trust her?

During the 2008 campaign she lied about being under sniper fire, when the video clearly showed she arrived in Bosnia under clear skies and children bearing flowers (http://tinyurl.com/clintonsniper). Does anyone remember why NBC News Anchor Brian Williams lost his job?

Clinton has continued to repeat the falsehood that “all my grandparents…came over here (referring to the US, in attempt to win favor on the immigrant issue).” This is false. Only one did. Hillary Clinton claimed she was named after the first man to climb Mt. Everest, Edmund Hillary. Problem is Sir Edmund Hillary did not climb Everest until six years after Hillary Clinton was born.

How about the time when Clinton claimed she and her husband, former-President Bill Clinton, were “dead broke” when they left the White House. Not only did Clinton demonstrate insensitivity for the real plight of struggling Americans, it was patently false.

The list just goes on and on, and are all a matter of public record. Claiming she was turned down by the US Marines when she applied in 1975, hinting at sexism. False. Claiming that her State Department email server was set up in “accordance with the rules and the regulations in effect.” False- as determined by a federal judge. Recently stating several times that “Director Comey said my answers were truthful, and what I’ve said is consistent with what I have told the American people, that there were decisions discussed and made to classify retroactively certain of the emails.” False, and the recipient of 4 Pinocchios from the Washington Post.
However, the most egregious transgression committed by Clinton is her handling of the Benghazi incident. First she ran with the preposterous narrative that some poorly filmed, seldom viewed video incited the well planned and executed attack on our diplomatic compound in Benghazi. Next, she deceived the parents of the four Americans that were killed, Ambassador Stevens, Information Officer Sean Smith, CIA operative Glen Doherty and CIA operative Tyrone Woods. Sean Smith’s mother, Pat Smith, and Tyrone Woods’ father, Charles Woods, both have stated that Clinton claimed a video was responsible for the attack in Benghazi. A narrative that is false.

Making the matter worse, Clinton engaged in an unnecessary public debate in response to Gold Star mother Pat Smith. As disheartening as it was to see the death of Captain Khan politicized by both sides, it was equally distressing to see the disrespect shown to Pat Smith. Pat Smith publicly stated that Clinton lied to her — “When I saw Hillary Clinton at Sean’s coffin ceremony, just days later, she looked me squarely in the eye and told me a video was responsible.” Instead of showing grace, and moving away from the issue (just as Trump failed to do regarding Khan), Clinton doubled down, stating – “I don’t hold any ill feeling for someone who in that moment may not fully recall everything that was or wasn’t said.” Translation, Pat Smith lied. Clinton fans have no problem attacking Trump for his Khan comments, but look the other way when Clinton was less than gracious as well.

No one should mistake this article as one written in defense of Trump. But to cast Clinton as the ‘better’ alternative to Trump is laughable. This belief assumes your audience to be a fool, when in fact the jester is the one looking back at you in the mirror.
