Progressive Group Recommends that President Obama By-pass Congress

The Center for American Progress (CAP), an extreme Left-wing  organization, released a report last week recommending that  President Obama use executive orders to implement major policy changes related to energy, immigration, eduction, defense, and foreign policy

American for Progress Report_executive_orders

What CAP is recommending is to throw out the U.S. Constitution and usurp the will of the people, allowing the President to by-passing the Congress and implement constitutionally questionable policies. And for those of you out that who are saying -“Oh, come on, The Center for American Progress is just a think-tank. President Obama isn’t going to listen to them. ” Really!!??!!

What you need to know about The Center for American Progress:

In “Change for America,” a book by the Center for American Progress that was designed as a blueprint for Obama’s presidency, Yale Law School dean Harold Hongju Koh outlined “a package of executive orders, proposed legislation, agency shakeups, and concrete foreign policy actions” the new president should embrace, including “four key executive orders” requiring the closing of Guantanamo Bay and ending the torture of detainees.”

What  The Center for American Progress is recommending is not only an assault on our Constitution, but will continue us down a path that can only end at autocracy, where policy is dictated by executive fiat, as suggested by a few, unelected elitist.

“Since the general civilization of mankind, I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpation” – James Madison

The following are a few short video interviews conducted by Human Events with Congressman Steve King.  In these interviews, Congressman King talks about his belief that  our country is in the abyss of socialism, and what we must do to pull ourselves back on firm-footing.

Terror Comes to the City of Roses

The recent arrest of Islamic terrorist Mohamed Osman Mohamud came as a complete surprise to the authorities of Portland, Oregon.  Not because the federal agencies wanted to exclude Portland, but because in 2005 the Portland  City Council BANNED the police department from participating in federal actions against terrorism.  Not only did the Portland City Council’s liberal-idiocy place the citizens of Portland (and frankly beyond) in danger, but they were supported overwhelmingly by the lunatic granola eaters in Portland! And do you know why?  Because the people of Portland thought that their open, tolerant community would never be a target.  Well surprise, terror has come to the ‘City of Roses,’ and the city did nothing to stop it. How’s that kumbaya approach to terrorism working for you now Portland?

Portland averted its eyes as terror threat grew

“I was recently told by a media person that if something happens in this city, I’m toast.”

So said Tom Potter, mayor of Portland, Oregon, on April 28, 2005 as he and the city council voted to bar Portland police from participating in one of the federal government’s key anti-terrorism initiatives, the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force. In Portland’s deep-blue precincts, there was intense opposition to the Bush administration’s conduct of the war on terror; residents worried the task force might violate state anti-discrimination laws by targeting Muslims for their religious and political views. So city leaders forbade police from taking part in it.

They made brave statements. “Here in Portland, we are not willing to give up individual liberties in order to have a perception of safety,” city commissioner Randy Leonard told reporters a few days before the vote. Yet there was still a little note of concern in Mayor Potter’s words: What if there were a terrorist attack after we refused to work with the FBI to prevent it?

Last Friday, that nearly happened. FBI undercover agents arrested would-be jihadi Mohamed Osman Mohamud, a 19-year old Somali-born naturalized U.S. citizen, in connection with a plot to set off an enormous car bomb at a Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Portland’s Pioneer Courthouse Square. Mohamud told the agents he wanted to stage a “spectacular show” in which hundreds, perhaps thousands of Portlanders would die. He also said he wasn’t worried about getting caught because the authorities in Portland “don’t see it as a place where anything will happen.”

New TSA Procedures: This Just Keeps Getting Better!

I am sure that this has been a terrible week for the TSA; and probably rightly so.  But now we are getting updates that not only are the new search procedures a constitutional concern, but a health concern as well:

Doctors warn TSA gloves can spread viruses from infected passengers

Radiation expert: Airport scanners could cause cancer

Considering all the issues with the new TSA procedures, the TSA needs to suspend them and reevaluate how to truly provide a balanced security process.

Reflections: Ronald Reagan and our "Rendezvous with Destiny"

As we continue deciding as a country the best course of action, it is helpful to remind ourselves that the cause of liberty is a constant battle. Brian Yurek, of the Raymond Tea Party, said something during my recent interview with him that I can’t get out of my head. When talking about programs such as the recently passed Healthcare Bill, Brian refereed to these programs as links in a the chain of  tyranny;  each one by themselves looks harmless, but when put together, the weight of obsession is revealed.  The question is, once revealed  will it be too late?

The quotes from Ronald Reagan contained in the video came from President Reagan’s greatest speech – “A Time for Choosing.” Many feel that “A Time for Choosing (also refer to as the “Rendezvous with Destiny” speech)” is the definitive speech that defines modern conservatism. I encourage you to download the audio and listen to it often:

Exporting Liberty, The Tea Party Movement Goes Global

A few weeks ago we posted an article on the growing international presence of  American-style,  pro-liberty movements, such as the Tea Parties and 9-12 groups.  Now we get this report from England that confirms that the commitment to liberty has found a new rebirth in the U.K.  Live Free or Die sounds go in any language and with any accent!

Tea Party movement gains traction in the U.K.

LONDON — The Tea Party movement’s recent electoral gains have gotten international attention, including in the mother country whose taxes inspired the first Tea Party — the United Kingdom.

A new rebellion against big government and high taxes is resonating in Ye Olde England.

“Ideas around limited government, absolutely, there’s lots of people in Britain who share those as well.” says Matthew Sinclair of the Taxpayers’ Alliance. The group — formed in 2004, naturally calling for lower taxes — is one of the largest in Britain with a Tea Party slant. It boasts some 60,000 supporters.

The group organized workshops this past fall with FreedomWorks and other American Tea Party support groups. “We’re always trying to learn how to campaign better. We’re always trying to learn if there are policy initiatives in the states which have succeeded,” Sinclair explains.
