Thomas Jefferson's Birthday

I doubt very much that Thomas Jefferson would appreciate Tax Day (April 15) coming so close to his birthday, April 13. Jefferson was a leading advocate against a burdensome tax code, and consistently equated liberty with an individual being free “to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement,” reminding government that they “shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned.”

In honor of Thomas Jefferson’s birthday, each day leading up to Tax Day 2010, I will post a quote for President Jefferson.  Happy Birthday Tom, we need you now more than ever.
